Avramidou Smaragda

Avramidou Smaragda was born in Istanbul in 1946 where he started taking painting lessons with the painter Tatiana Grigoriadou. In 1975 he left the city and settled permanently in Athens. He apprenticed in the workshop of Gianna Persaki and after five years of study, seven women created the “Workshop of the Seven Women”. For the first time, their works were presented at the Bouziani Gallery.

Her first solo exhibition took place at the DADA Gallery, in 1986. Later she took part in the events “Krystalia 86-Pyrgos Doukisis Plakentias”. This was followed by a solo exhibition at the Antinor Gallery and group exhibitions at the EST Gallery and the Freedom Park exhibit in October 1996. She recently presented a collection of her works, in traditional Greek costumes, at the Dora Stratou-DOLT International Conference.
