Exhibition with paintings by Kostas Siafakas at gallery genesis

Gallery genesis presents the solo exhibition of paintings by Costas Siafakas entitled “The universe fell into the mirror with the handmade darkness”.

The people sleep in mighty, silent winds. Before him, his details awaken: the index finger of the hand, which shows the heart of the thing; the tip of the needle, which pierces the paper cloth; the ends of the dry branch, which will never break; the beak of the pencil, he sings closed. Places, places, objects and animals are hovering. People dream of the sleepwalker himself, who one night escaped by jumping out of a window that was not a window. The night was not night either. The universe fell into the mirror with the handmade darkness.

The works that make up this exhibition were created from 2009 to 2021 and are painted in pencil. Seeing them, apart from their creator, I find that they are attempts to osmoticize the visual memory and the imagination, in order, each time, to form a more complete form, able to equate, more and more convincingly, the real life with the dream.

A few words about the Artist: 

Costas Siafakas was born in 1975 in Patras. He studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1994-2000) and completed the Postgraduate Program “Creative Writing” of the Kindergarten Department of the Pedagogical School of the University of Western Macedonia (2015). From 2003 to 2019 he taught Visual Arts as a permanent teacher in Secondary Education. Since June 2019 he is a member of E.D.P. of the Department of Fine Arts of the Athens School of Fine Arts.
